Review of Cassette in “Luna Kafé” (January 2015) by Anna Maria Stjärnell:
David Francis has recorded four albums, this is a collection of demos that were made on cassette, hence the title.
“Come Clean” is a very rough, but nonetheless melodic song with a cool melody. Francis makes it work as a song even this early on. “Indoor Sunset” is a lightly strummed song that sounds like a very cool thing. It’s got some nice guitar playing. “By Victoria Station” is a nicely played little ditty with a good tune. It could have been recorded anywhere between the seventies and now, it sounds very timeless.
“Dawn Is Coming” is a hopeful song, Francis singing sweetly to a soft guitar backing. It’s an intriguing idea for an album, and it works as an intimate insight into the singer’s music.
